Hill and Dale School's Philosophy

"Children can learn anything if it is taught in a fun, caring atmosphere. Children learn through involvement and interactions with their teacher and each other."

Hill and Dale offers traditional school programs for children ages 2 through 5.  Our Preschool, located in Spring Lake Heights, offers classes for ages 2 through Transitional Kindergarten for "young 5's," while our full day Kindergarten is provided at our Manasquan location.

Our philosophy is based on the fact that play is the primary way a child learns.  Children are young only once, during which play time is their "work."  At Hill and Dale we contribute to the child's learning process by offering language experiences, opportunities for creative expression, math, science and discovery, art and music and movement.

Children engage in self directed play and teacher directed projects, circle time, books and music. Time is set aside for large motor play inside and outside on our playgrounds.  Snacks are provided by the school.  In addition, special programs and field trips are scheduled throughout the year.

Kindergarten Program

We offer two Kindergarten programs:  Transitional Kindergarten is offered for young fives.  We focus on phonics, small muscle development and writing, number skills and interactive play and socialization.  The Kindergarten Program is geared for the student going into 1st grade the following year.  The program exceeds the "Common Core Curriculum Standards."

Both Kindergarten programs offer small classes with individualized instruction. All Hill and Dale programs encourage social interaction skills and promote self-esteem through play and leadership roles.
